One time I was sitting in a cafe and a lady came in with a satchel on hand with a beautiful silk scarf wrapped in one of the handles. The stylish accessory had this most amazing psychedelic print, like splashes of colorful paint was captured in a cool haphazard pattern.

As I was sipping my cappuccino I  felt a dose of inspiration to create a floral pattern in chrysanthemum style. I decided to get my iPad Pro and my handy Apple Pencil and I started using the brush stroke tool of my Sketches app.

I was repeating the patterns of the petals of the chrysanthemum until it reached the edge. Then with a lighter hue, but same salmon pink color, I decided to start using the watercolor brush. I painted away.

To highlight the flowers and give it a little more pop, I created a darker hue effect near the root of the blossoms.

If I had a scarf I would love for it to be in this pattern!

What about you? If you were to sketch a printed pattern that you can transform into a scarf, what would it be?

I love that you just sketched that upon inspiration. I’ve never done anything like that. The visual arts aren’t really my thing. But I have a lot of appreciation for those who can do that.

  11. Wow, I wish I were as creative and talented as you are! I can’t draw for the life of me and creativity is not one of my strong suits. I think your sketch would make a very lovely scarf!

Thanks Jessica. To tell you the truth I am not an artist. The talent went to my older sister and younger brother. I just wish I could do it just as well as they can so I am persistent at it! Haha!

  12. This is awesome, I need to check out this app! I love anything with stars on it, so that would definitely be the sort of pattern I would design for a scarf.

How beautifully that turned out. It would make a lovely scarf. You are amazing at that that art work. I could never draw or sketch it but I could see myself wearing a white scarf with many different shades of blue squiggly lines on it.

  14. Wow that is stunning. As a fashionista, I am all about great patterns and this is definitely something that would draw my eye. Great capture.

  15. I’m not sure what pattern I would sketch, I am not a great artist. But I think this is so cool that you can draw this on a screen! It is amazing what you can do with technology today. I need to get an iPad Pro.

This is so pretty! I do love how smooth the iPad Pro looks to draw on. I enjoy my Surface because it’s my all-in-one but it’s definitely lacking a Procreate or Sketches program. I use Illustrator professionally but sketches always looks so much to do little drawings or hand lettering on!

Awesome! I know Illustrator too but as a novice. Thanks for your comment. I love the drawing apps on the iPad. I think they designed the Apple Pencil really well with it. It’s my favorite after trying so many stylus.
