What is a podcast and who invented it?
Podcast has become a very common term, but there are still a few that may not know what it is. Shortened from the term ‘podcasting’, the meaning of podcast is audio blogging. But instead of listening to it on the radio, one can hear the cast through the web or byway of podcasting gadgets, such as the iPod, Smart phones, etc.
Even though this has been very popular, I have only taken akin to it in the last couple of years. Nowadays I find it occupies equal amount of time as my listening to my Spotify playlist, reading a book, or watching a Netflix episode. I love it!
Here’s my list of favorites…..
The Stylish+Geek List of Podcasts:
Girl Boss Radio with Sophia Amoruso
After seeing Sophia Amoruso speak in a bloggers’ conference and then reading her book #GirlBoss, I have been a fan! This ‘Nasty Gal’ is my epitome of woman empowerment!
So when I found out she hosted a podcast called Girl Boss Radio, of course I became a listener! In this podcast, she “interviews world-class girlbosses who have made their mark in creative, cultural, and business ventures to extract solid advice from the lessons they’ve learned along the way.”
The Lively Show by Jess Lively
I started listening to Jess Lively over a year ago. She has a wonderful podcast on setting value-based intentions.
I feel I just sipped a delicious tall glass of sweet strawberry lemonade whenever I listen to her.
Expect to hear topics ranging from motherhood, relationships, business, career, design, blogging, money, wellness, and more!
Brilliant Business Moms
Beth Anne hosts the Brilliant Business Moms podcast. And I must say I avidly wait for each week’s episode.
I started listening to them when they featured one of my favorite bloggers from SITS Girls. I was restarting my blogging and design business and I needed the extra boost of advice and tips that I could not get anywhere.
Listening to this podcast definitely filled that void! I zipped through all of them too while busy with my gardening!
Young House Love
I have been a follower of Sherry and John Petersik’s famous blog Young House Love. I bought both their books (and even bought more copies as gifts to friends). And thena couple of years ago they quit blogging. WHAT??!!! What happened???
They were so successful in Young House Love. They even did a lot of design collaborations. But they decided to take a step back and live their life as a family.
But fortunately they are back with this podcast that features DIY, Design, and Life at Home. They are new to this and I absolutely love each episode!
Boss Girl Creative
Boss Girl Creative podcast is a must listen to bloggers. She offers an enormous amount of blogging tips, resources, and advice.
And if you want to hone your blog into a business, you will definitely find a lot of information on the what, whys, and hows in this cast.
It’s like listening to a blogging coach once a week, now who wouldn’t want that!???
The Meditation Podcast
Once in awhile I need help feeling centered.
But if my mind is too inundated with cluttered thoughts, tasks, and worries, lying on a floor pillow at 5 a.m. still will not work. That is when I decided to listen to The Meditation Podcast.
This was an amazing way to induce a relaxing atmosphere, and yet they can help bring you to a meditative state.
This is a podcast for creative entrepreneurs, hosted by Kathleen Shannon and Emily Thompson.
You will notice I have a pattern of listening to empowering casts that also have a business flair to it. And this one definitely gives me that boost of positivity and confidence.
Expect to hear from entrepreneurs, coaches, writers, speakers, makers, and all others with creative professions. They will share with you their experience, advice, strategies, and many more!
